Abstract
Purpose: To compare the bone union rate of allobone graft, donated after hip and knee arthroplasty with that of autobone graft, harvested from iliac crest in posterolateral lumbar fusion.

Materials and Methods: We analyzed the 171 patients who underwent 1or 2 segmental decompression and posterolateral lumbar spinal fusion due to spinal stenosis during the period from 1999 to 2007, and who could be followed up at least 2years. The patients were divided into 4 groups according to the grafted bone and the number of fusion segment. The bone union rate of each groups was compared by Lenke¡¯ fusion scale in serial radiographic study. Statistically ANOVA test with multiple comparison was used.

Results: Statistically there was no definite difference between the bone union rate of the groups, divided by the type of bone graft and number of fusion segment, in 2 years of follow up period.

Conclusion: Allobone graft donated after arthroplasty can be substituted the autobone graft in short segment lumbar posterolateral fusion.
